Sinopse | Synopsis

PT | A proposta da peça "Esconde-esconde" parte de um conceito de brincadeira infantil, daquilo que é visto e do que se esconde. A peça será composta por duas camadas promovendo uma experiência interactiva com o visitante - a primeira camada consistirá em vários "peepholes" que permitem examinar apenas partes de uma narrativa maior que só será visível na segunda camada.

Com esta dupla dimensão pretende basear-se num mundo saturado de ecrãs que tolda a visão e o pensamento ao instante imediato, sobretudo focando-se no universo das pessoas que se identificam com o género feminino: O que significa recuperar a pertença do próprio corpo? Existir sem pedir licença para existir com respeito e liberdade de acções e pensamentos?

ENG | The concept behind the artwork "Hide and Seek" takes inspiration from the innocence of a childhood game, of what is visible and what remains concealed. The piece is composed of two layers, offering the viewer an interactive experience - the first layer presents a series of peepholes, revealing only fragments of a larger narrative that can only be fully perceived once you see the whole second layer.

Through this dual dimension, the work reflects on a screen-saturated world that clouds vision and compresses thought into the immediacy of the moment. The artist  focuses particularly toward those who identify with the feminine gender: What does it mean to reclaim a sense of belonging within one's own body? To exist without needing permission, with respect, with freedom of action and thought?

ENG | Sara Marques is a multidisciplinary artist who uses blue as the chromatic base of her creative universe, an essential contrast for what is said and seen.

In her body of work, she explores poetic reflections on life, everyday existence and the relationship between bodies - their space within each other, the spaces they inhabit and what surrounds them.

In her creations, word and image coexist to express messages that, even though coded, invite interpretation.

Her drawn bodies are representations of the human, usually devoid of gender, emphasizing the universality and fluidity of the human experience: any body can represent anyone.
