PT | Prison C é uma instalação de arte contemporânea multidisciplinar concebida por José Evangelista, que une vídeo, colagem digital, objetos reciclados e projeções imersivas para contar a história de uma mulher anônima de 95 anos, “A Mãe”, e seus sete filhos adultos, os “Filhos”. Inspirado por histórias reais e objetos encontrados nas ruas, o projeto faz parte da série Trash-Transform, onde elementos descartados são ressignificados artisticamente.

Composta por sete colagens digitais intituladas “Environments” e quatro vídeos (um curta e três loops), a instalação reflete sobre zonas de conforto, estagnação emocional e o contraste entre liberdade e conformismo. “A Mãe”, representada em movimento e liberdade, contrasta com os filhos, presos à casa e aos objetos do passado.

A obra propõe uma experiência sensorial e emocional ao espectador, destacando o uso de tecnologias acessíveis e software livre. Pensado como exposição itinerante, o projeto visa tornar a arte acessível a todos, especialmente a crianças e jovens, em espaços públicos e instituições sociais.

ENG | Prison C is a multidisciplinary contemporary art installation conceived by José Evangelista, which brings together video, digital collage, recycled objects and immersive projections to tell the story of an anonymous 95-year-old woman, “The Mother”, and her seven adult children, the “Sons”. Inspired by real stories and objects found on the streets, the project is part of the Trash-Transform series, in which discarded elements are given new artistic meanings.

Made up of seven digital collages entitled “Environments” and four videos (one short and three loops), the installation reflects on comfort zones, emotional stagnation and the contrast between freedom and conformism. “The Mother”, represented in movement and freedom, contrasts with her children, stuck in the house and objects from the past.

The work offers the viewer a sensory and emotional experience, highlighting the use of accessible technologies and free software. Conceived as a traveling exhibition, the project aims to make art accessible to everyone, especially children and young people, in public spaces and social institutions.”

PT |José Evangelista é um artista visual nascido em 1965 na República Dominicana, radicado em Faro, Portugal desde 2013. Com formação em artes plásticas, fotografia, arquitetura e cinema, desenvolve um trabalho multidisciplinar que abrange desenho, pintura, colagem digital, vídeo, som e realidade virtual. Evangelista participou de diversas exposições internacionais, incluindo Art Basel Miami, Holy Art Gallery Paris e bienais na Polônia e Japão. Produziu curtas-metragens exibidos em festivais de cinema e arte na Europa e América Latina, sendo premiado por obras como “Eu-Solidão” e “Alice”. Seu estúdio atua também com design de produção para espetáculos, video mapping e ações educativas artísticas.

ENG | José Evangelista is a visual artist born in 1965 in the Dominican Republic and based in Faro, Portugal since 2013. With a background in fine arts, photography, architecture and cinema, he develops multidisciplinary work that encompasses drawing, painting, digital collage, video, sound and virtual reality. Evangelista has participated in several international exhibitions, including Art Basel Miami, Holy Art Gallery Paris and biennials in Poland and Japan. He has produced short films screened at film and art festivals in Europe and Latin America, winning awards for works such as “Eu-Solidão” and “Alice”. His studio also works with production design for shows, video mapping and artistic educational activities.
